By returning to the mound to answer a question after a conference, substitute manager Don Mattingly causes closer Jonathan Broxton to be removed with the bases-loaded in favor of George Sherrill, who promptly serves up a 2-run double to Andres Torres on his 1st pitch. Buster Posey drives in Torres for insurance.

The rules violation is the final act in a game that features the ejection of Los Angeles manager Joe Torre, bench coach Bob Schaeffer, starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw after a series of brush-back pitches and HBPs.
