Josh Hamilton and Adrian Beltre, and then Craig Gentry adds a 2-run, Inside-the-Park home run to power Texas to a 5-0 lead en route to the win over Seattle. The victory cuts the Rangers' Magic Number to 1, which disappears hours later when Oakland defeats the Angels to set off Texas' celebration.

Matt Harrison turns in a strong 5 innings, before allowing 3 runs in the 6th to allow the Mariners to make things tight in the late innings. But the bullpen combines for 3 innings of 1-hit, 1-walk effort to seal the win and crown.
