Game Notes

Nationals beat the Mets 5-3 despite a pair of rare feats by New York.

Angel Pagan has an inside-the-park HR in the 4th inning, and then starts a triple play, snagging Roger Bernadina's sinking liner before throwing the ball into double Livan Hernandez off 2nd base and Nyger Morgan off 1st base. It's the first time since 1955, that a player and team have accomplished both feats in the same game.

However, Pagan's exploits aren't enough as Washington puts together a 3-run 7th to break a 2-2 tie, highlighted by Christian Guzman's run-scoring triple. Rookie Drew Storen gets his 1st MLB win, recording the final 2 outs in the top of the 7th.

Starting pitchers:
Mets - R.A. Dickey
Nationals - Livan Hernandez

Winning pitcher: Storen (1-0)
Losing pitcher: Raul Valdes (1-1)
