Michael Cuddyer singles home the winning run in the 8th after Kansas City erases a 3-0 deficit. Minnesota scores twice in the 1st and ups the lead to 3-0 on Drew Butera's solo HR in the 4th. The Royals rally on Alcides Escobar's 2-run HR in the 5th and Eric Homser's RBI groundout in the 6th.

Joe Nathan makes a successful return to the closer duties a night after Matt Capps blows a save. Nathan pitches a scoreless 9th for his 1st save in his old role.
