Twins ride a mammoth blast by Jim Thome to a 4-3 win over the Royals.

Tied 1-1, Minnesota gets a bit boost when Thome drives a shot 464 feet into the right-field upper deck for a 3-run HR. The homer is Thome's 596th career blast as he approaches the 600 milestone, and is the longest in the brief history of the Twins' new park.

Kansas City is able to close within 4-3 on a 2-run homer by Jeff Francouer in the 7th, but Alex Burnett, Glen Perkins and Joe Nathan combine to kill the Royals' rally hopes.
