David Murphy's solo HR in the 4th is upheld by review, cutting Detroit's lead to 4-2. Texas then scores 2 more runs in the inning to tie it and then goes ahead with a 3-run 6th before tacking on 4 more runs in the 7th to put it away and reduce the Rangers' Magic Number to 10.

Murphy collects 3 hits and 2 RBI while Michael Young has 3 hits, 3 runs, 3 RBI. Dustin Nippert tosses 4 1/3 innings of 3-hit, shutout relief for the win.
