Game Notes
Francisco Liriano shuts down the Mariners in a 2-1 win by the Twins.
Liriano limits Seattle to 1 run and 3 hits while striking out 9 in 7 innings as Minnesota wins on a sad day when the Twins team, organization and fans mourn the passing of Hall of Famer and all-time Twins great Harmon Killebrew, who passed away earlier in the day. The win over the Mariners and ace Felix Hernandez ends a 9-game losing streak.
The Twins manage just 3 hits off Hernandez and Brandon League. However, Michael Cuddyer makes them count with a 2-out, 2-run single in the 1st. Liriano gives up a single run in the 5th, but combines with Glenn Perkins and Matt Capps to make the 1-run lead hold up for a happy note on a sad day.
