Game Notes

It's O' Canada as the Blue Jays beat the Braves 4-3 in 11 innings.

Toronto claims Canada's 1st World Series championship amid late inning drama after Atlanta ties it with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th. Dave Winfield delivers his 1st Series extra-base hit with a 2-run double off Charlie Liebrandt in the top of the 11th.

Atlanta cuts the deficit to 4-3 and has the tying run on 3rd base, but Mike Timlin replaces Jimmy Key and retires Otis Nixon for the final out. The Blue Jays' bullpen had backed up David Cone with more scoreless relief until Tom Henke blows the save in the 9th when Nixon slaps a 2-out, 2-strike single through the leftside and Candy Maldonado's throw home is wild allowing Jeff Blauser to easily score the tying run.

Maldonado had given Toronto a 2-1 lead with a HR off Steve Avery to leadoff the 4th.
