National League stars ride hometown hero to 6-0 win.

Philadelphia native Mike Piazza captures MVP honors with a solo HR and a double as NL claims its 3rd straight over the American League. Piazza clubs a Charles Nagy offering into the upper deck in the 2nd inning to give the NL a 2-0 lead. Piazza later added an RBI double to push the lead to 4-0 in the 3rd.

John Smoltz started and pitched a pair of innings, allowing 2 hits, as the NL pitchers combined for a shutout. Kenny Lofton, with a pair of singles and a pair of stolen bases, was the only AL star, with multiple hits as the American League is blanked on 7 hits. Lance Johnson had 3 hits, including a double, and added a stolen base.

Perennial all-star Ozzie Smith made his final All-Star Game appearance to a rousing ovation with his announced retirement for the end of the season.
