Braves slam the Padres to stay alive, 8-3.

Andres Galarraga delivers a 7th-inning Grand Slam to let Atlanta pull away from San Diego and avoid the sweep. Leading 4-3 after scoring twice already in the 7th, Galarraga's blast of Dan Miceli gives the Braves a rare big offensive output. Javy Lopez had led off the inning with a HR off starter Joey Hamilton to tie the game, and then Ozzie Guillen later laces an RBI single into left for the lead.

The Padres had jumped on Denny Neagle for a 2-0 lead, and then pushed the lead back to 3-1 after Atlanta answered. But the Braves' offense finally showed signs of life against San Diego pitching erupting for 12 hits, including 2 apiece by Keith Lockhart, Chipper Jones and Andruw Jones.
