Braves avoid elimination again, beating the Padres 7-6.

Atlanta wins its 2nd straight after falling behind 3-0 in the series and 4-2 after 7 innings to deny San Diego a pennant clinch. The Braves get a huge night from an unexpected source when Michael Tucker drives in 5 runs, including the go-ahead runs in the top of the 8th.

The Padres had built a 4-2 lead on a pair of 2-run HRs off John Smoltz, by Ken Caminiti and John Vander Wal. Vander Wal's shot in the 6th had San Diego poised to wrap up the pennant. However, Tucker, who had a pair of RBI singles off Andy Ashby, delivered the big blow in the 8th.

Kevin Brown had entered attempt to close out the Braves, but allowed a lead off walk to Ryan Klesko followed by an infield single by Javy Lopez. With one out, Tucker took Brown deep for the lead. Atlanta then tacked on 2 more runs for a 7-4 lead.
