Yankees win it late, beating the Mets 4-2.

Luis Sojo delivers a pinch-hit single with 2-out in the 9th to break a 2-2 tie as the Pinstripes win their 26th World Championship. The Yankees started a 2-out rally against Al Leiter when Jorge Posada earned a walk and Scott Brosius followed with a single. Sojo breaks the tie with his single to center and when Jay Payton's throw hits Posada and caroms into the dugout Brosius is allowed to score.

Leiter had turned in a stellar effort, makinbg 142 pitches, allowing 7 hits, with the lone runs before the 9th coming on solo HRs by Bernie Williams and Derek Jeter.

Andy Pettite had matched Leiter for 7 innings, allowing only a pair of unearned runs.
