Chicago shuts out Atlanta for the 2nd time in a 3-game series thanks to a stellar spot start by Jeff Pico. Pico, filling in for Rick Sutcliffe, goes 7 innings allowing 4 hits and 3 walks, while striking out 3. Pat Perry goes the final 2 innings to complete the shutout.

The Cubs jump on Zane Smith early to give Pico a lead, scoring on a groundout in the 1st and extending the lead with an RBI double by Vance Law, an RBI single by Darrin Jackson and another run-scoring groundout in the 2nd.
