Game Notes

Braves rally for a 5-4 win over the Cubs.

Atlanta celebrates the opening of Turner Field with a late-inning rally by Chicago. Chipper Jones is the hero of the rally with an RBI-single in the 7th cutting the Cubs' lead to 4-3, and then driving in the go-ahead run with an RBI single off Terry Adams in the 8th. The Braves had scored the tying run when Shawon Dunston falls to make the snare of a grounder by Kenny Lofton that could have resulted in an inning-ending double play.

Michael Tucker goes 3-of-5, including the 1st HR in the new stadium, off Kevin Foster in the 3rd. However, Chicago battles back against Denny Neagle, and then takes the lead off Terrell Wade in the top of the 7th on Brian McRae's RBI infield single and an error by Fred McGriff that allows Jose Hernandez to score on the play.
