Cubs hold off the Pirates 10-8 to split a doubleheader.

Chicago gets the last volley in a sloppy contest with some ineffective pitching. The Cubs take the lead for good, breaking a 6-6 tie with 4 runs in the top of the 7th, with Mike Brumley drawing a bases-loaded walk and later scoring on a steal of home plate. In between, Jim Sundberg has a 2-run double.

Pittsburgh's highlight is a 3-HR night by Darnell Coles. Coles has a solo shot, followed by a 3-run HR and capped by a 2-run HR in the 9th.
