Despite frigid conditions, Chicago makes a happy home opener with 3 HRs and a stellar performance by Rick Sutcliffe. Sutcliffe goes the distance for the shutout, allowing just 6 hits, 2 in the final inning while striking out 5.

Despite the wind blowing in, HRs power the Chicago attack. Shawon Dunston singles in the 1st run, before scoring on Andre Dawson's 2-run HR off John Smiley in a 3-run 3rd. Dunston then goes deep in the 5th, and Dave Martinez adds a solo shot in the 7th.
