Dodgers bounce back with a 6-1 beating of the Yankees.

After letting a lead slip away late, Los Angeles builds a big lead early and cruises in Game 2. The Dodgers chase Catfish Hunter with 3 of their 4 HRs. Reggie Smith's 2-out double sets the table for Ron Cey's 2-run HR in the 1st. Steve Yeager extends the lead with a deep HR in the 2nd. Smith's 2-run shot in the 3rd finishes Hunter after just 2 1/3 innings.

Meanwhile, Burt Hooton is able to coast through much of the game, going the distance, allowing just 5 hits and 1 walk while striking out 8. New York stages a brief rally in the bottom of the 4th, but Hooton escapes mostly unscathed by inducing Reggie Jackson to hit into a run-scoring double play that kills the rally. Steve Garvey finishes Los Angeles' HR parade with a solo shot to lead off the 9th.
