Ron Guidry, Yankees cool the Dodgers 4-2.

New York takes a 3-1 lead in the series as Guidry thwarts Los Angeles on 4 hits. Guidry is in cruise control throughout, except for the 3rd when he gives up a double to Rick Rhoden and Davey Lopes follows with a HR to straight away centerfield that cuts the Yankees' lead to 3-2.

New York jumps on starter Doug Rau early with Reggie Jackson leading off the 2nd with a double. Lou Piniella follows with a single to score Jackson, and Chris Chambliss then doubles, preceding a heated argument between Rau and manager Tommy "Lasagna" Lasorda when he gives him the quick hook. Jackson later adds a solo HR off Rhoden.
