Reggie Jackson, Yankees hammer the Dodgers 8-4 to capture a championship.

Jackson equals a World Series record with 3 HRs, including a giant blast into the centerfield bleachers for the crowning finish. Jackson's 1st, off Burt Hooton, a 2-run shot in the 4th gives New York a 4-3 lead. He adds another 2-run blast in the 5th for a 7-3 lead. He puts the exclamation point on his MVP award with another in the 8th.

Mike Torrez weathers some early struggles before going the distance. Los Angeles strikes for 2 runs in the top of the 1st on Steve Garvey's 2-run triple after a critical error. Chris Chambliss answers with a 2-run HR in the 2nd to tie it, but Reggie Smith's solo HR in the 3rd regains the lead for the Dodgers.
