Pirates come through in a pinch to beat the Orioles 3-2.

Manny Sanguillen's 2-out pinch-hit single scores the winning run in the top of the 9th for Pittsburgh, which avoids dropping the 1st 2 games in Baltimore. Sanguillen's hit caps a 2-out rally after the Pirates let a leadoff single slip away. But Ed Ott singles and Phil Garner walks off Don Stanhouse to set up the decisive run.

Pittsburgh had struck for 2 runs off Jim Palmer in the 2nd, but was shut down afterward. Meanwhile, the Orioles chip away with Eddie Murray homering off Bert Blyleven in the bottom of the second and then delivering an RBI double in the 6th to tie it.
