Pirates awaken to beat the Orioles 7-1 and stay alive.
Pittsburgh breaks out late to force the series back to Baltimore. Jim Rooker doesn't allow a hit until the 5th inning, but a leadoff double by Gary Roenicke is converted into the game's 1st run. Bert Blyleven enters and shuts down the Orioles for the final 4 innings.
Meanwhile the Pirates offense awakens in the 6th finally breaking through against Mike Flanagan. Tim Foli walks to start the 6th and following a single by Dave Parker, scores the tying run on Willie Stargell's Sac Fly. Parker scores on a single by Bill Madlock. Pittsburgh strikes for 2 more runs in the 7th and 3 more in the 8th.
