Kansas City and Danny Jackson battle through to force the series back to Toronto. Jackson goes the distance, scattering 8 hits and 1 walk, pitching out of jams in the top of the 5th and 6th before finishing with 3 3-up, 3-down innings. Jackson strikes out 6.

The Royals strike early as Lonnie Smith lead off with a double off Jimmy Key and steals 3rd before scoring on George Brett's groundout. Small ball produces another run in the 2nd as Frank White leads off with a bunt single, advances to 3rd on Steve Balboni's single and then scores on Daryl Motley's Sac Fly.
