Game Notes

Royals even the series with a 5-3 win over the Blue Jays.

Kansas City forces a Game 7 by cracking Toronto starter Doyle Alexander again. Alexander allowed 5 runs in 5 innings in Game 3, and allows 5 more in 5 1/3. Hal McRae singles home a run in the 1st and doubles home another in the 3rd to give the Royals a 2-1 lead.

The Blue Jays respond each time with runs off Mark Gubicza. However, there are no answers after George Brett drives a solo HR to right off Alexander in the 5th. Buddy Biancalana and Lonnie Smith deliver back-to-back run-scoring doubles in the 6th.

Toronto threatens to get back into the game in the bottom of the 6th, but Bud Black pitches out of trouble, allowing just 1 run. The Blue Jays mount scoring threats again in the 7th and 9th, but each time fail to convert.
