Tudor's commanding performance moves St. Louis to the brink of a World Championship. Tudor goes the distance allowing just 5 hits and 1 walk, while striking out 8. Kansas City puts Tudor on the ropes in the 7th, loading the bases, but pinch-hitter Hal McRae delivers a tailor-made grounder to third to end the rally.

St. Louis gets some early power against Bud Black. Tito Landrum goes the opposite way with a solo HR to right in the 2nd and Willie McGee adds a solo shot to left in the 3rd.
