Jackson goes the distance allowing just 5 hits and a 1st-inning run. Jackson allows St. Louis a tying run on Jack Clark's RBI double in the 1st, and then pitches out of a bases-loaded situation in the 4th.

Fighting to force a Game 6, Kansas City strikes with a run in the 1st off Bob Forsch, and then breaks a 1-1 tie in the 2nd on Buddy Biancalana's RBI single, before Willie Wilson pushes the lead to 4-1 with a 2-run triple. Wilson, Biancalana, Lonnie Smith and Pat Sheridan each collect 2 hits and the Royals' offense finally comes to life in the series.
