Minnesota answers Chet Lemon's 2-run HR in the 2nd with 3 runs in the bottom of the inning off Detroit's ace to take control and move on to a 2-0 lead in the series. Bert Blyleven weathered the shaky 2nd, and turns in 7 1/3 innings, allowing 7 hits and 3 runs, striking out 6 before turning it over to Juan Berenguer who slams the door for the final 5 outs.

With Blyleven steadied, the Twins' offense strikes back at the Minnesota-native Morris, who had been perfect pitching on his home soil. Tom Brunansky delivers an RBI-double before scoring, along with Greg Gagne, on Tim Laudner's double. Dan Gladden extends the lead to 5-2 with a 2-run single in the 4th. Kent Hrbek adds a solo HR in the 5th before flashing his glove in late innings as the Twins hang on for the win.
