Game Notes

Tigers overcome a huge rally to beat the Twins 7-6.

Detroit jumps in front with a 5-run 3rd inning as Les Straker melts down for Minnesota. However, the Twins chip away at the lead 2 runs at a time, closing to within 5-4 on Tom Brunansky's 2-run HR off Walt Terrell in the 6th. Minnesota takes the lead on Gary Gaetti's 2-run single in the 7th.

Mike Henneman stops the bleeding after giving up the go-ahead hit, and the Tigers answer in the 8th when Larry Herndon leads off with a single and scores on Pat Sheridan's HR off Jeff Reardon. Henneman pitches a 1-2-3 9th to seal the win and get Detroit in the series after dropping the 1st 2 in Minnesota.
