San Francisco rallies with a couple long balls, and evens the series behind Mike Krukow. Krukow goes the distance, scattering 9 hits while allowing a pair of runs after the bottom of St. Louis' order strings together 4 straight singles.

Danny Cox cruises along until Robby Thompson slips a solo HR just over the left field fence in the 4th. A 2-out rally dooms Cox in the 5th as Kevin Mitchell doubles and Jeffrey Leonard homers for the 4th straight game for a 3-2 lead. Bob Brenly adds a solo shot off Cox in the 8th.
