Big inning lifts the Giants to a 6-3 win over the Cardinals.

San Francisco takes a 3-2 lead in he series after answering each marker by St. Louis. The Cardinals score in the top of the 1st and 3rd innings against Rick Reuschel with the Giants answering each time. After St. Louis takes a 3-2 lead in the top of the 4th, Greg Mathews is unable to take the mound with a strained quad and his replacement, Bob Forsch is racked hard.

Chili Davis and Will Clark start with singles before Forsch walks Bob Brenly to load the bases. Jose Uribe then follows with a single scoring Davis and Clark for the lead. Ricky Horton replaces Forsch but gives up a Sac Fly scoring Brenly and Robby Thompson triples scoring Uribe.

Reuschel is pinch hit for during the big inning, leaving Joe Price to deliver a stellar long performance, going the final 5 innings, allowing just 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 6.
