Game Notes

Blue Jays edge the White Sox again, 3-1.

Toronto sweeps the 1st 2 games in Chicago as stranded runners and mistakes sink the Sox. The Blue Jays grab a quick lead after Rickey Henderson reaches on an error and scores on a groundout. Chicago ties it in the bottom of the 1st when Dave Stewart walks the bases loaded and uncorks a wild pitch.

However, Stewart limits the damage, and Stewart, Al Leiter and Duane Ward frustrate White Sox batters, who go 0-of-7 with runners in scoring position. Alex Fernandez pitches a strong 8 innings for Chicago, but falls victim to a 2-out rally in the 4th. Paul Molitor has a ground rule double with 2 outs, and scores on Tony Fernandez's single. Fernandez hen scores on a single by Pat Borders.
