Game Notes

Phillies erupt in a 6-4 win over the Blue Jays.

Philadelphia evens the series after a big inning, and then holds off Toronto. The Phillies strike for 5 runs off Dave Stewart in the 3rd inning. Jim Eisenreich delivers the big blow with a 3-run HR after RBI singles by John Kruk and Dave Hollins.

The Blue Jays claw back into the contest, getting a 2-run HR by Joe Carter off Terry Mulholland and adding run on Tony Fernandez's RBI double in the 6th. However, Lenny Dykstra answers with a solo HR for a 6-3 lead.

Typically, Mitch Williams pitches into trouble, but gets out of it largely unscathed picking off Roberto Alomar trying to steal 3rd in the 8th to preserve a 6-4 lead.
