Game Notes
Blue Jays hammer the Phillies 10-3.
After a rain delay of over an hour, Toronto wastes no time in beating up on Philadelphia starter Danny Jackson. The Blue Jays strike for 3 runs in the top of the 1st as Rickey Henderson singles, Devon White walks and Paul Molitor follows with a triple before scoring on Joe Carter's Sac Fly.
Pat Hentgen struggles early, giving up a pair of 1-out singles before striking out the side. Hentgen goes 6 innings allowing 5 hits and 1 run.
Molitor makes good on manager Cito Gaston's decision to bench batting champion John Olerud in favor of Molitor. Molitor pushes the Blue Jays' lead to 4-0 with a solo HR in the 3rd. He walks and scores in the 7th and adds a single in the 9th.
