Game Notes

Phillies stay alive with 2-0 win over the Blue Jays.

Philadelphia sends the series back to Toronto a night after blowing a 14-9 lead in the 8th. Curt Schilling comes to the rescue after the Phillies' staff melts down in game 4.

Schilling tosses a 5-hitter, becoming the first Philadelphia pitcher to toss a shutout in the World Series. Schilling was in command from the start until the 8th when Pat Borders and Rob Butler start the inning with singles. However, Schilling is able to pitch out of the jam preserving the 2-0 lead.

The Phillies are able to capitalize on some small ball early. Juan Guzman walks Lenny Dykstra to start the bottom of the 1st, and then Dykstra steals 2nd and takes 3rd on Borders' throwing error. Dykstra's able to score on a groundout. Kevin Stocker's double scores Darren Daulton in the 2nd.
