Marlins survive with an 8-7 win over the Indians.

Florida overcomes a rocky start and then wobbles to the finish, giving up 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th before closing on the victory and 3-2 lead in the series. Livan Hernandez starts shaky before settling down until the 9th when he opens the door to a Cleveland rally.

The Indians open a 4-2 lead after Sandy Alomar Jr.'s 3-run HR in the 3rd and Orel Hershiser is cruising, retiring 10 straight before the wheels come off in the 6th. Gary Sheffield singles and Bobby Bonilla walks ahead of Moises Alou's 2nd 3-run HR off Hershiser in the series. The Marlins then load the bases before Eric Plunk walks in a run.

The Marlins stretch the lead to 8-4 with runs in the 8th and 9th. But in the bottom of the 9th, a blown call at first base opens the door to another rally, as Rob Nen struggles close out a game for the 2nd time in 2 tries.
