A blown call and big blow decide the game in the Yankees' favor 4-3 in 10 innings.

The Red Sox feel robbed after Jose Offerman is forced out at 2nd base despite Chuck Knoblauch failing to control a relay, preventing Boston from starting the top of the 10th with runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs. A double play on the ensuing play ends the inning. Bernie Williams promptly ends the game in the bottom of the 10th when he leads off with a homer to center off Rod Beck.

The Red Sox jump out to a 3-0 lead off Orlando Hernandez with 2 runs in the 1st and another in the second. However, Scott Brosius answers with a 2-run HR off Kent Mercker in the bottom of the 2nd. Derek Jeter singles home Brosius in the 7th to tie it.
