Game Notes

Yankees sweep away the Braves 4-1.

New York wins its 12th straight World Series game behind a stellar performance by Roger Clemens. Clemens goes 7 2/3 innings, allowing 4 hits and keeping Atlanta scoreless until the 8th.

John Smoltz matches Clemens, except for a 3-run 3rd when a couple good defensive plays might have kept the Yankees off the board. But as throughout the series, the Braves don't make the plays needed.

Chuck Knoblauch leads off with an infield single and later scores, along with Derek Jeter, on an infield single for a 2-0 lead. Jorge Posada adds an RBI single during the inning.
