Seattle uses a 5-run outburst to erase a 2-1 deficit and send the series to a Game 6. After a bunt single by Mark McLemore and a walk by Rickey Henderson, Alex Rodriguez delivers a 2-run single to give the Mariners the lead. Then Edgar Martinez and John Olerud hit back-to-back HRs off reliever Jeff Nelson to break the game open.

New York puts M's starter Freddy Garcia on the ropes early, but Garcia pitches around trouble, before Jose Paniagua, Arthur Rhodes and Kaz Sasaki follow suit, flirting with trouble before escaping.
