Arizona takes a 3-1 lead as Atlanta falls into disarray despite having the significant edge with Greg Maddux facing Albie Lopez. Lopez lasts just 3 shaky innings, but it doesn't matter as Brian Anderson and the bullpen pick him, while the Braves become a comedy of errors.

The Braves lead 2-0, but Chipper Jones starts the 3rd with an error, Rey Sanchez follows up with another error, and Maddux commits another error to load the bases before Steve Finley singles home a pair of runs. Matt Williams and Mark Grace follow with RBI singles.

Craig Counsell doubles in 2 in the 4th for a 6-2 lead. Counsell drives in 2 more insurance runs in the late innings, and Luis Gonzalez adds a 3-run blast. Highlighting Atlanta's meltdown, 2 Arizona batters reach base after striking out.
