The Diamondbacks are on the brink of winning for the 2nd straight night, when Byung-Hyun Kim coughs it up again. This time allowing a 2-run HR by Scott Brosius with 2 out in the 9th. New York wins it when Chuck Knoblauch leads off the 12th with a single on Albie Lopez's 1st pitch, and then scores from second on Alfonso Soriano's 1-out single.

Kim's 2nd straight late-inning meltdown wastes a masterful performance by Arizona's journeyman Miguel Batista, who out-duels Mike Mussina, going 7 2/3 innings, scattering 5 hits and 5 walks. Meanwhile, Mussina repeatedly dodges damage, only getting scratched when Steve Finley and Rod Barajas touch him for solo HRs.
