Verlander isn't in dominating form, but Detroit takes a 3-0 lead in the series after he goes 8 1/3 innings, allowing just 3 hits and a lone run. Abraham Nunez's solo HR in the 9th is all the offense New York can muster as its post-season slump continues.

The Tigers don't explode offensively either, but have enough runs after Miguel Cabrera's RBI double in the 5th gives Detroit a 2-0 lead.
