Hanser Alberto gets redemption with his bat after an error opens the door to 2 runs for Toronto with Texas leading 3-1 at the time. Alberto, an injury replacement for Adrian Beltre, breaks a 4-4 tie with an RBI single off LaTroy Hawkins in the 14th.

The Blue Jays take a 4-3 lead on Ben Revere's RBI single in the 5th, but the Rangers rally to tie it in the 8th on an RBI single by Mike Napoli. After Cole Hamels departs following 7 innings, Texas gets 7 innings of 2-hit relief from its bullpen to claim a 2-0 lead in the series.
