Kansas City strikes, capitalizing on an error in a 3-run 8th to overtake New York and claim a 3-1 lead in the series. With runners on 1st and 2nd and one out, Daniel Murphy can't catch a fairly routine grounder off the bat of Eric Hosmer, allowing Ben Zobrist to score the tying run. Mike Moustakas and Salvador Perez follow with run-scoring singles.

Steven Matz had carried a 3-1 lead into the 6th before giving up a leadoff double to Zobrist and an RBI single to Lorenzo Cain, allowing he Royals to creep back in after New York had taken control on the strength of a pair of solo HRs by Michael Conforto.
