After letting a 3-1 lead slip away in the top of the 8th, Chicago strikes for 5 runs in the bottom of the inning to take the opener. Miguel Montero's pinch-hit Grand Slam off Joe Blanton breaks a 3-3 tie.

The Cubs strike for 3 runs early, highlighted by Javier Baez, who doubles in 1 run and then steals home. Jon Lester nurses a 3-1 lead for 6 innings before the Chicago bullpen falters.
