Tigers pound the Brewers 7-3.

Detroit jumps on Ricky Bones, Milwaukee early and then cruises behind John Doherty, who tosses 7 scoreless innings while allowing 4 hits and a walk. The Brewers stage a late but too short rally against the Tigers' bullpen.

The Tigers strike early with a 5-run 1st inning. Detroit leads off with a single, double and walk to load the bases, and then Cecil Fielder follows with an RBI single. After Kirk Gibson strikes out, Mickey Tettleton crushes one the opposite way for a Grand Slam. Tettleton also adds a double and a walk.
