Games Notes

Cubs rally for a 10-9 win over the Pirates in a wild final game at Three Rivers Stadium.

Pittsburgh overcomes an early 4-1 deficit to lead 8-5 before Chicago storms back and then hangs on to deny the Pirates a winning finish to its home for 30 years. Down 8-7, the Cubs strike for 3 in the 8th as Sammy Sosa and Mark Grace start the inning with a walk and a single before Shane Andrews doubles both home, and then Andrews scores on Augie Ojeda's double.

The Pirates battle back in the 9th as Jason Kendall, Brian Giles and John Vander Wal lead off the inning with singles closing the gap to 10-9. But with runners on 1st and 3rd and no outs, Pittsburgh is unable to deliver a Sac Fly or hit to extend Three Rivers Stadium's baseball life.

Grace goes 2-for-3 with 3 RBI in his final game with the Cubs. Pittsburgh native John Wehner delivers 3 hits, including the last HR at the stadium, but also grounds out for the final out.
