Giants slam the Dodgers 18-4.

Bill Mueller and Jeff Kent each connect for Grand Slams as San Francisco routs Los Angeles, pulling within 3 games in the Wild Card race. The Giants pound Dodgers pitchers for 19 hits, including 9 off Ismael Valdez in just 2 2/3 innings.

After J.T. Snow starts the scoring with an RBI double in the 2nd, Russ Ortiz adds an RBI single, Melvin Benard walks with the bases loaded, and then Mueller hits his 1st career Grand Slam. An inning later, Kent connects off Mike Judd for his Grand Slam as part of a 6-run outburst, giving San Francisco a 13-0 lead.

Ortiz goes 6 1/3 innings allowing 11 hits and 4 runs while adding a pair of singles.
