San Francisco knocks Houston out of a 1st place tie in the NL Central due to a 10-run 2nd inning outburst. The Giants erupt for 7 hits and 10 runs, driving Wade Miller from the game early.

Marquis Grissom leads off the 2nd with a HR and then Jose Cruz, Jr. follows back-to-back singles with a ground rule double making it 2-0. After an RBI single, an error and 2 bases-loaded walks push the lead to 6-0, Edgardo Alfonzo delivers the big blow, a Grand Slam off Ricky Stone's 1st pitch.

Jason Schmidt is able to go into cruise control, sitting down the Astros on 1 hit through 6 innings before giving up 2 hits in the 7th, including the 1st of 2 HRs by Jason Lane.
