San Francisco weathers a 5-run rally by Arizona in the 8th to win. The Giants opened up a big lead against Elmer Dessens, taking a 2-0 lead on a homer and a bases-loaded walk, and then breaks the game open with a 3-run 5th.

Benito Santiago drives in a pair with a double and then Edgardo Alfonzo adds a Sac Fly. Rich Aurilia tacks on another run with a solo HR in the 7th. Kirk Rueter cruised through 7 innings before running out of gas in the 8th.
