Detroit rallies late to take the win as Chris Pittaro makes a starring debut. Pittaro collects 3 hits and drives in the tying run in the 8th. It marks the high point of Pittaro's career, after being hyped as the next great player by Sparky Anderson.

After Pittaro's RBI single, Lou Whitaker lofts a Sac Fly off Ernie Camacho for the winning run. Cleveland had taken a lead with a 3-run 6th off Jack Morris. Bert Blyleven departed with the lead for the Indians.
