Chad Ogea, Phillies beat the Cubs 3-2.

Philadelphia gets a surprisingly strong effort from Ogea to win the opener of a weekend series with Chicago. Ogea, struggling entering the game, goes 8 innings, allowing just 3 hits and 1 run. A victim of the long ball, Ogea gets a scare when Jon Lieber sends Curtis Goodwin to the wall with the bases loaded in the 5th.

Lieber also pitches well, but is victimized by an error and a long ball in the 4th. An error by Jose Hernandez and single by Bobby Abreu sets up Rico Brogna for a Sac Fly and the game's 1st run. Then Mike Lieberthal follows with a 2-run blast.
